The Michelin Challenge Design 2013 competition deadline is fast approaching – you only have until 1 June to submit your designs. The theme of this year's competition is ‘HALF! Lightweight with a Passion', with entrants being asked to explore lightweight vehicle development by designing a family vehicle for four to six people.
The design has to adhere to consumers' safety and comfort needs as well as usability on current road infrastructure and production feasibility using modern technology, materials, powertrain solutions or manufacturing solutions.
Peugeot will show a new concept car at the 2014 Beijing Motor Show this April, hinting at a small four-door coupe that could rival the Mercedes-Benz CLA. The prototype will most likely be based on the French firm’s current 308 hatchback – underpinned by PSA Peugeot Citroen’s latest EMP2 platform – and will continue to evolve the brand’s new design direction. The MINI Rocketman Concept was revealed at the Geneva Motor Show in 2011 as a smaller MINI than the one BMW were selling at the time, and it looked like BMW were considering going the smaller route to make the MINI more fun. But with the 2014 MINI now revealed, BMW has gone the opposite route by underpinning the new MINI with the UKL platform that will also underpin the next BMW 1 Series, and made the latest MINI even bigger than the last one. But it seems BMW still see mileage in a ‘Mini MINI’ and appear keen to find a way to make the Rocketman a production reality.
